Kawakawa

This heart shaped leaf is well known for its medicinal properties from toothache to skin allergies and relief from tired aching muscles and bones.

Add some leaves to a warm bath for instant relief. 

Kawakawa leaves can be dried to make an aromatic tea or used fresh from the tree.

 

Recipe:

 

1x Kawakawa leaf Hot or Cold water

• additional for winter chills try: Hihoi (NZ mint), honey, ginger or lemon
• summer add to sparkling water with lime

After washing place leaf into cup.

Pour over hot water.

Take your rongoa to a quiet space and allow the aroma to quiet the mind.

We know that we must ask before taking and understand as humans we are the teina (younger sibling) to the natural world. Therefore we honour and respect their Mauri (life force) and we are doing our best to enhance their growing environment.

Please be aware some of our native plants and trees are poisonous and can make you very sick. Just because a tree or plant is here it does not mean it is safe for consumption. Please be 100% sure you know what the plant is before you put anything in your mouth
